Oil Pastel Use instructions
Apply to unfired or bisque fired clay.
Acts as a colored resist before firing.
May be left unglazed when on non-food surfaces.
When used on a food surface, a suitable food-safe glaze must be applied on top of the pastels.
To apply glaze on top, first bisque fire pastels to remove the wax and oil and make them receptive to glaze.
For best adhesion for glazing, bisque fire first to cone 04. If bisque firing lower, use firm hold hair spray as a fixative for easier glazing, as the lower-fired pastels are prone to migrate.
Ceramics may be bisque fired many times without hurting the final product.
If glazing, apply a stiff zinc-free clear style of glaze.
Brush glazing may smear underfired pastels.
Fire to cone 6-10.
Do not eat. Children may only use with supervision.
Gloves or barrier cream recommended.
As with all ceramic materials, test fire before using in production.
